One of the things that I started doing recently is monetizing my blogs. This is what they call setting up advertising for blogs. So I set up this blog to record what I was doing. I added advertising first to my forecasting freehostia blog, but I ran out of MySQL space on that one, so I moved it over to blogspot (http://forecastingmethods.blogspot.com).
It's a lot easier here on blogger ... set up the monetize settings and set up advertising on the blog. However, the results aren't always what I'd expect. I'm a big fan of advertising. Just plain text on a blog without any off-links or images just gets a little BORING. However, I like the ads to be image ads, and Google's ads aren't always with images.
Signing up for a Google adsense account is pretty easy (adsense.google.com). I just did that, and then got the code to paste into the pages. In Wordpress, I had to embed it in the template file, until I found some good plugins (www.wordpress.org). Here it's easier as it's built into the monetize tab setting.
